Melee Basic Abilities
Adrenaline-generating melee abilities for your rotation
Overview
Melee basic abilities generate Bloodlust stacks which can be consumed by Enhanced abilities for bonus effects. Your main ultimate, Berserk, increases your maximum Bloodlust stacks and makes basic abilities generate stacks faster.
All of these Melee Basic Abilities will generate a base of 9% adrenaline unless stated otherwise.
Core Basics
Basic Attack
Basic Attack is your default ability dealing 110%-130% damage. It generates 1 Bloodlust stack and has no cooldown.
Adaptive Strike
Unlocked at level 7, Adaptive Strike channels your weapon's form into an adaptive strike dealing 60%-75% damage per hit with 2 hits. This ability has a 5.4s cooldown and generates 12% adrenaline instead of the standard 9%.
The ability changes based on your equipped weapon:
- 2h: Swipe your weapon in front of you
- Dual Wield: Strike at the target with both weapons
Rend
Unlocked at level 18, Rend slices through the target dealing 135%-165% damage with a 10.2s cooldown. Notably, this ability generates 2 Bloodlust stacks instead of the standard 1.
Conditional Damage
Punish
Unlocked at level 60, Punish slashes at the target unexpectedly dealing 110%-130% damage with a 24s cooldown. This ability will deal 2.5x damage if the target's Life Points are below 50%, leading to a potential 275%-325% damage.
Stuns
Backhand
Unlocked at level 31, Backhand strikes the target dealing 95%-105% damage and stunning and binding the target for 1.8s. This ability has a 15s cooldown and holds 2 charges (second charge unlocks at level 54).
Ability Synergy
Fury
Unlocked at level 21, Fury swings your weapon at the target dealing 110%-130% damage with a 15s cooldown. When cast, the Critical Strike Chance of your next Melee attack is increased by 25%.
Can be upgraded to
Greater Fury via an ability codex - increases damage to 120%-140% and your next Melee attack within 15s is guaranteed to Critically Strike.
Barge
Unlocked at level 65, Barge moves you up to 10 tiles towards the target dealing 75%-95% damage with a 20.4s cooldown. Casting this will clear any Bound debuff on yourself and instead bind your target for 6.6s.
Can be upgraded to
Greater Barge via an ability codex.
The movement and bind effects remain the same. The base damage also remains the same, but additional 5%-7% damage will be dealt for every 0.6s since your last attack, up to a maximum of 6s.
Additionally, if you have not attacked for 4.8s, your next Channeled ability cast within 6s will have its damage dealt as Damage over Time instead of requiring channeling.
Chaos Roar
This ability is obtained via a codex unlock at level 92.
Chaos Roar releases a savage war cry dealing 100%-120% damage with a 60s cooldown. Your next Melee ability within 7.2s will deal 1.75x base damage (reduced to 1.25x in PvP).
Greater Fury via an ability codex - increases damage to 120%-140% and your next Melee attack within 15s is guaranteed to Critically Strike.
